One of our first trips after we quit our jobs in September 2002 was to Amsterdam.  This was a last minute idea - we only knew we were going about two hours before we had to go to the airport.

We stayed in the Jordaan area, west of the City Centre, and had a great time wandering along the canals, looking at the gabled houses, eating and drinking in canalside cafes and trying to avoid collisions with the swarms of cyclists.

This was Alyssa's first trip to Amsterdam since 1976.
