In October, we went to Antwerp for Wes and Veronique's wedding.  We spent one day exploring the sites of Antwerp.  Above is the Grote Markt.  The fountain is of the legendary figure Silvius Brabo who killed the giant Druon Antigoon who would chop off the hand of passing chip captains who couldn't pay his toll.  After killing the giant, Brabo chopped off the giant's hand and threw it in the river.  (Hand throwing in Dutch is 'hand werpen'.)  Below are pictures of the cathedral, the Steen and Hendrik Conscienceplein.
Wes and Veronique's wedding was on the Saturday, in a beautiful church just outside of Antwerp.  The ceremony was half in Dutch and half in English.  The reception was wonderfully long with fantastic flood (American wedding cakes are overrated - crepes with chocolate sauce are definitely more tasty).  The coach picked us up at 3:30am to take us English guests back to the hotel, but the bride and groom and many others were still dancing when we left.

Sunday we explored more of Antwerp.  We enjoyed a Belgium waffle and then went ten-pin bowling.
