The weather for our hike from Honister pass to Black Sail was perfect, but the weather changed during the night.  The howling wind whipped up the valley and wuthered around the old shepherd's bothy, keeping up Alyssa.  We woke up in the morning to a sheep trying to get inside and a more typical, cloudy and rainy Lake District day.  We could no longer see Great Gable.
We couldn't see the cairn at the top of Black Sail Pass until we were about 10 feet from it.  The rain was blowing about and we were absolutely soaked.  The sheep didn't seem to mind.
We stopped in Wasdale Head.  There seemed to be seven buildings, including a pub and an outdoor gear shop.  The other buildings were farms or houses.  Alyssa bought a pair of waterproof trousers.  We then went to the pub for a drink and to hang our clothes by the fire.  (Alyssa was very thankful she had bought another pair of trousers in Kendell the day before.) We then headed for Borrowdale.
We couldn't see a think at the top of Sty Head, in fact we weren't sure which way were were supped to go to get to Borrowdale.
The rain stopped and the clouds lifted slightly when we reached Borrowdale.
