After our walk around the village of Grange, Dad drove us up to Honister Pass.  (We don't think he enjoyed driving up the steep and winding road, negotiating around the occasional sheep.)  From there we hiked further up into the fells, over to Haystacks and then down to the Black Sail Youth Hostel.
Halfway along our hike, we had a fantastic view of Buttermere and Crummock Water. Two years ago, we went for a walk on the bit of land that separates the two lakes.

We also stopped to admire Great Gable as we sat by the water at Innominate Tarn.

We hiked down from the top of Haystacks, down into Ennerdale.  In our pictures from 2006, you can see Great Gable looming at the end of the valley.  We spent the night at the Black Sail YHA youth hostel.  The hostel is in an old shepherd's bothy, complete with sheep and a lamb wandering around on the lawn out in front.  Beautiful, peaceful, and relaxing.
