After the foot and mouth restrictions had been lifted in midsummer 2001,
we went hiking for the first time in months - and had a whole week of
sunshine in the Lakes. We hiked everyday, despite sunburn and sore
knees gained on the first day climbing Swirl How, Coniston Old Man and
Dow Crag. After Coniston, we moved on to Langdale and then
Grasmere, where we stocked up on the greatest hiking fuel,
Sarah Nelson's
Gingerbread (Kendal Mint Cake just doesn't cut it). |
