St Albans is on the site of the second largest Roman City in Britain, Verulamium.  Remains of a Roman amphitheatre, the city walls and the hypocaust of a villa are all easily visible.  The Abbey was built on the site where Alban, a Roman citizen who protected a priest, was executed.  St Albans is one of a few cities to have a working clock tower and is famous for having the highest number of pubs per person in the UK.

We lived in the house with the white door and the flowers outside.
